FBG Duck was a Chicago rapper who rose to fame as a member of the Fly Boy Gang (FBG), a rap group that was also known as Clout Boyz.

He was known for his raw and gritty lyrics that reflected the harsh realities of street life and gang violence in Chicago.

FBG Duck was also a rival of the O-Block gang, a faction of the Black Disciples that controlled the Parkway Gardens apartments on the South Side of Chicago.

On August 4, 2020, FBG Duck was shot and killed by four gunmen who ambushed him outside a Dolce & Gabbana store in the Gold Coast, an upscale shopping district near downtown Chicago – later shown in surveillance footage dubbed the FBG Duck shot video.

His death sparked outrage and grief among his family, friends, fans, and the hip-hop community, as well as a federal investigation that led to the arrest and conviction of six alleged O-Block gang members.

According to the federal indictment, FBG Duck, whose real name was Carlton Weekly, was shopping for clothes for his young son’s birthday at the Milani Boutique on Oak Street, when he was spotted by Ralph Turpin, a reputed O-Block gang member who was inside the store.

Turpin called his fellow gang members and told them to come to the Gold Coast and kill FBG Duck, who was affiliated with the STL/EBT faction of the Gangster Disciples, a rival gang of the O-Block.

Turpin also secretly recorded some of his phone calls, which were later obtained by the authorities.

Within minutes, two cars carrying six O-Block gang members arrived at the scene.

They were Charles Liggins, also known as “C Murda,” Kenneth Roberson, also known as “Kenny” and “Kenny Mac,” Tacarlos Offerd, also known as “Los,” Christopher Thomas, also known as “C Thang,” Marcus Smart, also known as “Muwop,” and a seventh suspect who killed himself later.

They saw FBG Duck standing on the sidewalk outside the Dolce & Gabbana store and opened fire at him with handguns and rifles.

FBG Duck was hit 16 times in the chest, groin, and neck, and collapsed on the pavement.

Two other people who were with him, a 28-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man, were also wounded by the gunfire. The shooters then fled the scene in their cars, leaving behind a trail of shell casings and shattered glass.

The FBG Duck killing video showing surveillance footage of the day surfaced on social media several years after his death.

The FBG Duck shooting occurred around 4:30 p.m. in broad daylight, in front of dozens of witnesses and security cameras, of which the FBG Duck killing video surfaced online in 2024. The police and paramedics arrived shortly after and rushed the victims to the hospital.

FBG Duck was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital at 5 p.m. The woman and the man survived their injuries and were listed in stable and serious condition, respectively.

The brazen attack which emerged in the FBD Duck shot video shocked and outraged the public, as it happened in one of the most affluent and touristy areas of Chicago, near the Magnificent Mile.

The mayor of Chicago, Lori Lightfoot, condemned the shooting as “senseless” and vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice. She also blamed the rap music and social media for fueling the gang violence in the city.

The Chicago police and the FBI launched a joint investigation into the murder of FBG Duck, using surveillance footage, phone records, social media posts, and witness statements to identify and track down the suspects.

They also relied on the cooperation of some of the O-Block gang members, who provided information and testimony against their fellow gangsters in exchange for leniency1.

On October 13, 2021, a federal grand jury indicted five alleged O-Block gang members for the murder of FBG Duck. They were Liggins, Roberson, Offerd, Thomas, and Smart. They were charged with murder in aid of racketeering, conspiracy to murder in aid of racketeering, and federal firearm violations. They faced a mandatory life sentence or the death penalty if convicted. Many of these were spotted in the now viral FBG Duck shot video killing video.

A sixth suspect, Turpin, was also indicted for the same charges, but he was already in custody on a separate case. The seventh suspect, who was not named in the indictment, had committed suicide in March 202116.

The six defendants pleaded not guilty and went to trial on October 10, 2023.

The trial lasted for more than three months and involved more than 100 witnesses and hundreds of exhibits. The prosecution presented evidence that showed the motive, planning, execution, and aftermath of the shooting, as well as the history and culture of the O-Block gang and its rivalry with the STL/EBT gang.

The defense argued that the evidence was circumstantial, unreliable, and tainted by the cooperation of the informants, who had their own agendas and incentives to lie.

On January 17, 2024, after two days of deliberation, the jury found all six defendants guilty on all counts. They were convicted of murder in aid of racketeering, conspiracy to murder in aid of racketeering, and multiple firearm offenses.

They were scheduled to be sentenced in August and September 2024. They faced a mandatory life sentence without parole, unless the government decided to seek the death penalty.

The verdict was welcomed by the family and friends of FBG Duck, who expressed their relief and gratitude for the justice system.

FBG Duck’s mother, LaSheena Weekly, also known as Mama Duck, thanked the prosecutors and the jury for their work and said that she hoped that her son’s death would serve as a lesson and a warning for the young people involved in the gang violence.

She also appealed to the public not to seek revenge or celebrate the convictions, but to respect the law and the fans of her son.

Out of the blue in January 2024, the FBG Duck killing video surfaced on social media sites like X and reddit.
