Emdee Tiamiyu Apologises for BBC Interview – Social Media Roasts Him

UK-based Nigerian YouTuber, Emdee Tiamiyu has apologised over his interview with the BBC in which he painted Nigerians black.

Emdee Tiamiyu said in the infamous interview that Nigerians who get study visas to the UK are not actually coming to study but simply interested in leaving Nigeria behind.

Tiamiyu’s interview went viral and sparked social media backlash from Nigerians.

After initially holding out, Tiamiyu has now rendered an apology on his YouTube channel.

In the video, Tiamiyu expressed his apologies for his comments and to anyone they might have inconvenienced.

Nigerians were not too pleased with his apology and continued to roast him on Twitter.

Tiamiyu shared a link of the YouTube video on his Twitter account and he was accused of chasing clout with the apology.

One netizen said: “Emdee Tiamiyu, Rinu, Hundeyin & those bashing on international stage are the same. Inferiority complex has destroyed thinking faculty of our people. We don’t know right from wrong, what do you expect from the people who hate everything they represent?”

Another said: “God will punish you and anyone that clicks that link ”

A third added: “After you don cast the update…  You wan use our views cash-out again on YouTube ”

Another netizen said: “One would think you’ve been in the UK For several years. It’s barely a year you left (2022)  yourself & you’ve started jam-talking on stuffs that’d get others affected. “Fenujawaya” ”

Finally: “Instead of watching, use this opportunity to report his channel & help take it down.”

Who Is Emdee Tiamiyu – Nigerian In BBC Interview?

Emdee Tiamiyu is a Nigerian Software Evangelist, Mandela Washington Fellow, Motivational Speaker, Curator, and Author.

Tiamiyu is a Yoruba from Osun State who gained entry to the UK via a study visa. Aside from his profession, he often records YouTube videos about the visa application process.

Emdee Tiamiyu date of birth is December 19th, although the year is unknown. His age is not exactly clear.

Tiamiyu had his education at Wesley College of Science (WESCOS), Elekuro Ibadan, where he had his Senior Secondary Certificate in 2006.

He proceeded to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology from 2007 to 2012 for a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Science and Engineering.

He also attended Arizona State University in 2016 for a Public Management degree before completing a master’s degree at Vistula University in Management (Project, Business, IT) in 2022.

Late on Monday, May 23rd 2023, Emdee Tiamiyu went viral on Twitter, for granting an interview to the BBC in which he said Nigerians do not actually come to the UK to study but for other reasons.

His video went viral after Nicholas, a UK-based Nigerian mechanical engineer shared it on Twitter.

Nicholas wrote:” In case Nigerians are looking for village people to blame (on study visa issue), see your brother Emdee Tiamiyu exposing himself on tv for the world to see,”

The video went viral, garnering over 800,000 views as at press time. Tiamiy himself shared it.

In the video, the U.K based Youtuber told a BBC reporter: “So the student (visa) thing is not like they need the degree. They need the degree as an access route to come into the country. So a lot of these people get their priorities shifted real fast,”

Social media blew up over his claims.

After significant public backlash, Emdee Tiamiyu apologised over his interview on the morning of Tuesday, May 24th 2023.
