Meanwhile, relatives of the deceased have lashed out at D.C authorities for releasing Lynch, who had been arrested recently.

According to D.C. Court documents, he was arrested on Feb. 12 in Southeast D.C. and was facing several charges, including carrying a pistol without a license, and threat to kidnap or injure a person.

He was released four days later, leaving the family wondering what might have been if he was never let go.

“He had an incident that happened in the District of Columbia less than two weeks ago. That is something that is puzzling because we need answers as to why no one corrected this type of behavior,” said Markita Bryant, the victim’s extended cousin.

“They could’ve prevented a tragedy that we’re all going through right now.”

In a statement, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia said they had fought against Curtis Lynch being released.

“We charged significant firearms offenses, asked for his pretrial detention, and vigorously fought for him to be detained. He was released over our objection,” the statement read.

Mailyn Turkes was the 10-year-old stepdaughter of Curtis Lynch of Landover who was shot and killed by her stepfather.

Mailyn Turkes has been described as a girl with a bright future whose life was prematurely cut short.

Prince George’s County Police Chief Malik Aziz said that Mailyn had her future cut short.

“Our 10-year-old future bright star should be here with us now,” Aziz said.

Prince George’s County Executive Angela D. Alsobrooks (D) called Mailyn “a beautiful, beautiful 10-year-old” member of the community and said her death was “very tragic.”

“All of us are very heartbroken, to say the least,” Alsobrooks said.

He worked as a software engineering manager at both Meta and Google for a year and a half and eight years, respectively.

In June, he founded his own AI company, Logits.

Anand, along with his wife, Alice Benziger, and their four-year-old twins, Noah and Neithan, were found lifeless in their California home.

Alice’s mother had been with the family in California for nearly a year and returned home just a week before the tragedy.

Anand was identified as the suspect in the incident.

A 9mm handgun, legally registered to Anand, was found on the bathroom floor where both adults’ bodies were located.
Alice succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds, while Anand suffered from a single shot.

The cause of death for the minor boys is still pending pathology, but they did not die from gunfire or show signs of bodily trauma.

The motive behind the crime remains under investigation.

There was no history of violence at home.

Anand’s other sons are planning to bring the bodies to Kollam for burial.

This heartbreaking event has left many questions unanswered, and the community mourns the loss of this family.
