Chief Daddy 2: Going for Broke is the Netflix produced sequel to the hit Nollywood comedy ‘Chief Daddy’ from 2018.
Despite the first movie being a box office success and a cult classic, the second has been generally panned by critics.
Reactions from the audience have been far more mixed.
Still, the consensus among watchers also seems to fall on the negative side.
Below, we garner some of the critical and audience reactions to the most disappointing Nollywood/Netflix release of the year so far.
Chief Daddy 2 – Netflix Sequel
In 2018, Chief Daddy was a huge box office hit in Nigeria.
The original folowed a ragtag group of nuclear and extended family members fighting over the wealth left behind by the eponymous ‘Chief Daddy’.
The success of Chief Daddy led Netflix to jump on board and try and pick up some of that shine by financing a sequel – Chief Daddy 2 – Going for Broke.

Chief Daddy 2 Reviews
Reviews for the movie have been spectacularly bad!
Writing for Premium Times Nigeria, Onu Stephen was scathing in his review.
“There was no coherence in the storyline and roles of the characters. It was as though the screenwriters did not watch the original version of the movie,”
“If asked to describe Chief Daddy 2, we would say it’s a pointless, repetitive, and incredibly predictable sequel that leaves the viewer utterly confused and angry.
“In simple terms, it’s a painful watch!” he continued
He went on to describe it as a must avoid rather than must watch. OUCH!
The American site Decider.Com was equally unimpressed with the movie in their scathing review.
“…Its screenplay is a liability. It spreads its many characters too thin, doesn’t land enough good jokes and is drawn-out and repetitive,” they wrote.

They added: “Chief Daddy 2 is an unfocused mess, which would be tolerable if it only made us laugh more often,”
It seems there is no love anywhere in the critical world for Chief Daddy.
Audience reviews
Audience reviews have been far more mixed.
For instance, on Twitter, we’ve been able to find people impressed and at the same time unimpressed with the movie.
Twitter user @_iRoyalty_ was happy with themovie.
“Just finished “Chief Daddy 2″ and I think the movie is just OK! Whoever engineered your minds to hate it really did a good job. It’s comedy, what were you expecting?”
Meanwhile on the other side of the spectrum, user @blessing_9ice was not impressed.
“Summary of chief daddy 2: -No head -No tail -Full of noise like, Oshodi, Balogun market -No Lasman to enforce traffic Horizontal traffic light rules, everyone just dey act as you like.
“The film does not belong to any category.. e.g comedy, action romance -it look like waste of investment to me,”
Verdict
Everyone has their views but reviews tend to be leaning more negatively.
Nigeriabombshell.com would advise that you watch the movie and make your own mind because sometimes the critics don’t know what the hell they’re talking about!
