Who is Brenda Duran? Mom Goes Missing After Jumping Into River to Save Drowning 11-Year-Old Daughter

Brenda Duran is a 30-year-old Newman, California woman who has gone missing after jumping into the San Joaquin River to save her daughter.

Duran’s kids were playing in the water on Thursday when her 11-year-old daughter began struggling to stay afloat.

The distraught mother jumped into the water to save her daughter but ended up going missing herself.

When Duran’s 13-year-old son saw what was happening, he jumped in the water and helped his sister to safety but their mother could not be found.

The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office Air Unit, Modesto Police Department’s Air Unit, Sheriff’s Office Drone Team, Sheriff’s Office Special Vehicle Operations Unit, West Stanislaus County Fire Protection District, Patterson District Ambulance and AMR, Stanislaus County Fire Chaplains, Merced Sheriff’s Office, and Newman Police Department responded to the area and are conducting a search for Duran.

The search continued until about 11:00 p.m. but was paused due to visibility and safety concerns, but Sheriff’s patrol units remained at the scene throughout the night.

The Sheriff’s Department Dive Team was activated this morning and continued the search with Duran still yet to be located.
