Big Brother Canada 11 Cast – Meet the Housemates

Big Brother Canada is back for season 11 and Us Weekly can exclusively reveal the new cast of houseguests competing for $100,000.

The newest cast of the Canadian spinoff – Big Brother Canada -, which is hosted by Canadian Screen Award winner Arisa Cox, who also serves as one of the show’s executive producers, includes a 911 operator from British Columbia, a mom of four and yoga instructor from Alberta, an investment advisor from Saskatchewan, a graphic designer from Ontario, a marketing coordinator from Prince Edward Island, a father and fisherman from Newfoundland and more.

The network recently announced that the show was doing away with the traditional live feeds where fans were able tune into 24/7 coverage of the houseguests as they lived and played in the game. This year, they’ve announced “Digital Dailies,” which are described as “uncut content from inside the BBCAN house, offering viewers an extended peek into the houseguests’ lives.” These are meant to be posted “regularly throughout each week on bigbrothercanada.ca.”

The 11th installment’s theme is being touted as a big game of whodunit. “In a house filled with secrets, twists and turns, and inevitable drama, houseguests must plot their way through the #BBCAN11 Manor, where everyone is a suspect in this diabolical game of whodunit,” the press release reads. “This season, mysteries will be revealed behind secret passageways where devious twists are designed to stoke paranoia throughout the house. The Big Brother Canada Manor will test the houseguests’ wit, detection skills, and social game until the mystery is solved and the last standing houseguest claims victory as the winner of Big Brother Canada season 11.”

“We are known for giving audiences behind the scenes access to Big Brother Canada, and we’re excited to debut Digital Dailies this season. This new content offering came together after thoughtful consideration, with us taking a new approach to the BBCAN live feeds by offering an exclusive peek inside the house and moving away from the 24/7 live feeds,” Lisa Godfrey, Senior Vice President, Original Content and Corus Studios, Corus Entertainment, said in a statement. “We are constantly looking for new ways to evolve the show to ensure we operate with the utmost duty of care and prioritize the mental health and well-being of the houseguests, and their family members, as well as our own production team who work closely on the series. We are happy to continue delivering the exclusive content we know audiences love, in a way that works best for our BBCAN family.”

This season, the show will air three nights a week featuring new episodes every Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET/PT (Head of Household), Wednesday at 9 p.m. ET/PT (Power of Veto) and Thursday at 7 p.m. ET/PT (Eviction).

Big Brother Canada livefeeds

In a seismic shift for reality TV, Big Brother Canada has announced that it is doing away with the 24/7 live feeds that allow fans to watch every single second of the action in terms of what sort of shenanigans contestants are up to inside the house.

Instead, the show, which is hosted by Arisa Cox, will introduce something called Digital Dallies for it’s upcoming 11th season, which premieres March 8 on Global in Canada.

Digital Dallies are being described as “uncut content from inside the BBCAN house, offering viewers an extended peek into the houseguests’ lives.” That seems to mean that production will offer only selected segments from inside the house, also giving them the ability to make sure any unflattering or problematic behavior or speech — something Big Brother often specializes in — does not make it to air. Digital Dailies will be posted regularly throughout each week.

“We are known for giving audiences behind the scenes access to Big Brother Canada, and we’re excited to debut Digital Dailies this season” said Lisa Godfrey, Senior Vice President, Original Content and Corus Studios, Corus Entertainment as part of a statement on the announcement. “This new content offering came together after thoughtful consideration, with us taking a new approach to the BBCAN live feeds by offering an exclusive peek inside the house and moving away from the 24/7 live feeds.”

Continued Godfrey: “We are constantly looking for new ways to evolve the show to ensure we operate with the utmost duty of care and prioritize the mental health and well-being of the houseguests, and their family members, as well as our own production team who work closely on the series. We are happy to continue delivering the exclusive content we know audiences love, in a way that works best for our BBCAN family.”

Here in the United States, live feeds have been both a blessing and a curse for CBS, which airs Big Brother in the U.S. While the feeds help keep fans engaged and the show trending on social media, it also has meant every single word and action — including comments that have been deemed racist, sexist, and homophobic — have been captured and replayed over and over again, leading to unflattering headlines about the program and Houseguests who compete on it.

With Big Brother Canada no longer giving viewers a chance to watch big romantic connections and/or blow-ups happening in real time, longtime fans expressed their disappointment all over social media. Others worried that the U.S. version of the show — which has seen several controversial moments from live feeds replayed over and over on Twitter and other platforms — might follow suit and do away with its own round-the-clock coverage on Paramount+.

However, this is one time that U.S. Big Brother fans should not expect the unexpected. According to a source close to production, there are no plans to change the live feed offerings for viewers of the American Big Brother when the show returns for its landmark 25th season this summer.

While controversial comments and actions from the live feed have certainly caused headaches and unflattering headlines for CBS, they’ve also generated near-constant engagement and social media attention among the fan base. Not only that, but the CBS live feeds have translated to precious Paramount+ subscriptions, acting as a financial boon to a streaming service that’s looking to catch up to competitors like Disney+, Netflix, and HBO Max.

So, barring any unforeseen circumstances — we know Big Brother loves a twist — it seems fans here in America will still be able to tune in at 2 a.m. to watch players slurp down cereal, put on a facial mask, and, if we’re really lucky, snuggle a stuffed owl for 10 minutes straight.
