He had spent 35 years in law enforcement, serving in various roles such as patrol officer, detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and chief.

Probst was respected and admired by his colleagues and subordinates for his professionalism, integrity, and leadership.

Unfortunately, Andrea Probst would die at the hands of his killers – a 17-year-old driver who hit him whilst cycling and his friends.

Probst had moved to Las Vegas with his wife Crystal and their two children, Michael and Taylor. He worked in global security for a remote company and enjoyed traveling, golfing, and making coffee.

He was also an avid cyclist who went for a bike ride every morning near his home in northwest Las Vegas.

He was described by his family as an “amazing man” who was “like a ray of sunshine” to everyone he met.

On August 14, 2023, around 6 a.m., Probst was riding his bike in a designated bike lane on North Tenaya Way, near West Centennial Parkway.

He was wearing a helmet and following the traffic rules.

He was unaware that a 2016 Hyundai Elantra was approaching him from behind at high speed.

The car was driven by a 17-year-old boy who had three friends with him in the vehicle.

The driver had decided to target Probst for no apparent reason other than amusement.

He asked his friends if they were ready and then swerved into the bike lane behind Probst.

He honked his horn and then deliberately smashed into Probst’s back tire with a loud bang.

The impact sent Probst flying off his bike and landing on the side of the road.

The driver did not stop or check on Probst’s condition. He sped away from the scene with his friends.

One of the passengers in the car had recorded the whole incident on his phone and posted it on social media.

He was taken to the Juvenile Detention Center and charged with murder.

Probst was taken to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. He had suffered severe head trauma and internal injuries from the collision.
