Suspect Arrested After Murder of Mom and Disappearance of Two Louisiana Girls

UPDATE: One Daniel Callahan was arrested in Jackson, Mississippi in connection with the murder of Callie Brunett.

Callahan reportedly led police to his car where they found 6-year-old Jalie Brunett alive.

He then led officers to the body of 4-year-old Erin Brunett.

Jackson police said during a news conference that the surviving child was taken to a hospital to receive treatment, and they are working to determine the manner of death for the other child. Callahan was taken into custody.

Callahan had previously dated the little girl’s mother for a short while, according to Chief Deputy Jimmy Travis of Tangipahoa Parish in Louisiana.

An amber alert has been issued after two girls went missing in Louisiana and their mother was brutally murdered.

35-year-old Callie Brunett was murdered, found dead 24 hours after she went missing.

Her two girls, Jalie, 6, and Erin Burnett, 4, were also declared missing, with a male suspect wanted for questioning.

Jalie is described as having brown hair and blue eyes standing 4 feet tall. She weighs around 56 pounds.

Erin is described as having brown hair and brown eyes and stands 3 feet tall. She weighs around 32 pounds.

WBRZ reports that deputies made contact with the father of one of the girls, Jonathan Hutchinson, and said he is not a suspect in the kidnapping or killing.

Johnny Tarver, the dad of one of the two girls, has also been ruled out as a person of interest after it was revealed he is currently serving time in Washington Parish jail.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office, a homicide investigation began early Thursday morning after Callie Brunett, 35, of Loranger, was found dead in her home after being missing for over a day.

Brunett’s father had found her body Thursday morning on the floor of her bedroom inside of her trailer.

He had earlier reported his daughter missing on Wednesday after she hadn’t returned home.

Police believe her murder was due to a domestic incident.

Detectives say Callie’s car is also missing. It is described as a black 2012 Chrysler 200 with Louisiana license plate 859GML.

The suspect is believed to be driving the black 2012 Chrysler 200 with a Louisiana license plate bearing 859GML.

There is no hubcap on the back right tire of the vehicle. There may be damage to the rear of the vehicle.
